Ski Like a Girl – Join the Journey: Celebrating 40 Years of the Canadian Birkebeiner |
Join Charlotte Mitchell and PearlAnn Reichwein on the Ski Like a Girl Podcast as they explore the 40-year history of the Canadian Birkebeiner, a ski event east of Edmonton inspired by the Norwegian legend of saving a baby prince. They share stories of the women, teachers, and community members who shaped the Birkie — including Phil Dunn, who skied with hundreds of students (including future Olympian Amanda Ammar), and Glenda Hanna, who completed 55 km carrying her baby. This special episode honors the spirit, inclusivity, and dedication of all who have kept the Birkie alive for four decades. |
