Volunteer-Register

Three distinct teams prepare, distribute, and finalize registration for the Birkie. Help Birkebeiner skiers to start their event off on a positive note by providing their welcome package with a bib and timing chip.

Who is In Charge?

Kirsten van der Meer is the Chief of Registration. She loves to spend time outside with her family in all seasons.

Kirsten has run registration for nearly a decade for the Birkie. Because of both experiences, she knows the process but would like to find someone to take on this critical leadership role.

Context For All Roles

Registration: Skiers can register online until February 7. Once this closes, these teams spring into action. 1,200 registration packages are compiled on February 8 at the Broadmoor Golf Course. The next day, at the Nordic Fair, two shifts of volunteers distribute the packages to the skiers. An onsite team at the Ukrainian Village finalizes any last minute changes.

Safety: Volunteers work indoors either at the Broadmoor Golf Course or at the Ukranian Village. Paper cuts, tripping on power cords, and the drive out to these locations present the gravest safety risks.

Location: Public transit to the Broadmoor Golf Course is possible. Volunteer supplies their own transportation to the Ukrainian Village.

Training: Virtual/in-person briefing in January will be required. An in-person award organization meeting will be held closer to the Birkie. Attendance at the Volunteer Orientation the week of the Birkie is highly recommended. Awards Lead will provide mentorship and guidance.
